Getting involved into building the biggest site in Europe is a priceless experience whilst enjoying the benefits that balfour Beatty have to offer.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Through my 4 years as an apprentice I've picked up skills that will last my whole career such as being involved in the construction of main power electrical systems on Hinckley point C and buildings that will transfer the electricity from 2 of the main reactors on HPC.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
College is the main foundation for all your base skills and theory. As its a long apprenticeship it can be tiring at points but opportunities that balfour beatty give to us such as going to Brathay residential for team building development is a nice break from the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Most of the time you are supported well by balfour beatty for any concerns and you can always seek support through college who are very helpful.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Excellent support is gifted to us through college such as the key points in my apprenticeship like my AM2 which is the end final assessment of my program. Skills weeks is a major factor as we learn the practical steps required to complete our qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Gives you the gateway for more opportunities after completing your apprenticeship such as being a qualified electrician and being able to go to many other major industrial jobs like HPC or Sizewell C.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Brathay residential (team building), duke of Edinburgh program gold (orienteering) is couple of the opportunities forwarded by balfour beatty.
