As apprentice you can learn everything starting from technical terminology of equipment and parts till instalation and design.
Over 4 year time youget chance to change your work place from temporary installations, testing team, containment and earthing team. In every stage you can learn from profesionals.
Keeping in mind wast opportunities, nothing is given on golden plate, you have to be keen and willing to learn!

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I couldn't suggest it more. Definitely one of my greatest decisions to join BBK. Apprenticeship might be long way to get qualified but no where else you will get opportunities like this. To learn and grow without stopping.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Absolutely. I learned more about design and best practice of instalation. I learned how to work together with quality control to achieve best desired result.
I learned how to work with big CSA cables in tight spaces and lots more.

Academic side is constructed straight forward. Additional information can be found online and in college library.
On practical side I would say everything is there, you have to ask and show will to work and company is more than willing to help you grow.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

Support in everything. Need different type instalation for portfolio. No problem. Want to orginase and run part of job? No problem they will let you, stop you and teach you if you do anything wrong. Totally amazing.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

College accesors are amazing. Even being flat out with all apprentices they manage to come to this secure site and observe us working.

There are Early carriers programme helping us to do team building communication. It's pushing us out of box of comfort and definitely helps us to grow.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Balfour Beatty?
Ask and again ask. If you are willing to learn something they are willing to help. If you stand a side and wait form miracle you might lose your opportunity. This advise I would give to anyone regardless of company they chose to work for.
