Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

When carrying out work within my role, I am often carrying out lots of design work. This involves lots of team work, critical thinking, adaptation and many other important skills. When not carrying out design work, I may be on site carrying out tests. This also requires to work as a team, while maintaining Health & Safety practice.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship programme, I find the process of learning about my job challenging while also being interesting. I have a good relationship with all my colleagues.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned how to operate many new softwares, as well as my overall IT skills. I started off requiring a lot of assistance and with time and help from others I have become more independent when using softwares. I also have developed the skill of interacting in a professional manner with clients. This can be on site, or through emails and online calls.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I believe my programme is structured well for me. I had a set training plan from early on in my job to teach me what my role within the team is and what is expected. I learned the theoretical sides of my work, as well as how to apply it. As I progressed I have been allowed to work more freely, while still being able to have assistance if required.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a great amount of support from my employer. My employer always offers support to help me carry out my work. I am well encouraged to ask questions if need be, as well as offered training and experience often.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider has regular meetings with me to understand where I am with my qualifications. He speaks about the next steps to be carried out as well as any recommendations.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe the college work I have carried out does not link great to my job role. This is because most of the college work is electrical wiring skills, which it does not relate to my job. I do believe these are still useful skills to have that could help in some scenarios. I also believe that doing a HNC at college is good use for learning about the job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is often extra curricular activities within my workplace. I have had team dinners together, office nights, been invited to social lunches and charity events to interact with other colleagues.

Arcadis is a great place to work from my experience. I have had a lot of support and encouragement, as well as an enjoyable experience.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arcadis?
My advice would be is that do not be afraid to ask questions. Asking questions is the quickest way you will learn. Also don't be scared of failing when carrying out new tasks.
