Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my day to day job i am an engineer for a new build overhead line project. my role includes managing teams and site operations. Doing things like on site evaluations of access tracks and potential issues with water courses managing subcontractors for drilling boreholes, issuing safety permits to work around live services and more..
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
This has been an excellent programme with a good balance between college work and site based work. the team around me has been a great influence for me and helped me develop well

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed lots of new skills including things like my presentation and social skills, time management, more knowledge pf the construction industry and what it takes to work safely in difficult environments. I have also gained a HNC in electrical engineering

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I would say the programme is very well organised in that there was a good balance between in site and college clock release. with good plans in place for me to develop my skills when I'm back on site
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
i have a great team around me that have always encouraged me to ask for any help i need from day 1
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The college (Loughborough) although has bee good with support is not always to the same level as employer with the apprentices sometimes having to ask for information ourselves rather than the college taking things in their own hands
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
Although the qualification in electrical engineering is a good one to have the vast majority of my college works is completely irrelevant to my day to day work. A civil engineering one would have been much better suited
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there is a site gym available for staff to use and we did a group triathlon for charity which the company was very accommodating for putting us up in a hotel for the day of the event and covering travel costs
