Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Mainly setting out works for ground team, surveying levels for works and as-built drawings, creating permits, document control and quality control of works on site, creating ITP's, material approval forms (MAF)
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
It's going okay so far, not enjoying the university side as I have been to university before and failed so was worried about starting again. The course isn't that relevant to the work I do on a daily basis but will build the basics for my career.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Developed my documentation skills, time management, quality assurance etc

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Little to no structure other than attending university for my 2 week blocks, some early careers training but stuff I already know
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Again when it comes to University, little to no help but work related I receive help when required
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The university has support for modules and off the job hours if needed
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
No difference if I had the qualification or not
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Occasional networking even for early careers

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Balfour Beatty to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They're a good tie 1 company with very high procedures and way of working, don't stand for anything but the best
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Balfour Beatty?
Don't try and get on a big site straight away, join a small team where you will learn more and get given more responsibility
