Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a site based engineer my day to day involves setting out and surveying tasks to assist with site. This is followed by ensuring all relevant records are up to date and match what has happened on site and ensuring that the project is delivered defect free.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy the combined on the job learning and University study side as it means I get to see the content I learn in University in practice on site and help contribute to positive changes.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

In work I am constantly exposed to new things ensuring that I am constantly learning new things on the job. This is especially because this is a new industry to me so their is so much to learn or build knowledge on.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is organised well to ensure I gain the most I can out of this apprenticeship
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from my employer whether it is day to day or giving my extra support for exams to help me balance work and university accordingly
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive support if needed as they carry out drop in sessions or lecturers will arrange teams calls if needed for apprentices needing additional support as I only attend University once a week
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Gives me the knowledge behind what we do on site so further helps me understand what I do in my day to day job role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Why?
As Balfour Beatty are one of the biggest Civil Engineering company's in the UK there are so many opportunities to work within different industries and different types of projects to gain more experience. I have enjoyed knowing that the projects I work on whilst at Balfour Beatty contributes to something meaningful whether its what the community gain from our schemes , supporting a team or achieving company goals. I have benefited from the challenges in my role and found that in my role there is always an opportunity to develop new skills and gain experience. I also have thoroughly enjoyed my experience so far and look forward to the rest of my apprenticeship with Balfour Beatty.

To thoroughly research the role they want to apply for to find out what is best suited as Balfour Beatty offer lots of different job roles and apprenticeship types
