Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Mondays are my mandatory university day, I attend my lectures and lab session in person. For the rets of the week, my role currently entails me supporting and leading sales deals to secure contracts with a variety of our clients. Moreover, I perform weekly executive analysis on my business group's sales pipeline and present it to our leadership team
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It's given me great exposure to the tech industry and the corporate world, and provided me with a place to nurture my talents and take leadership where possible. Moreover, I have had great fun and never felt like I "missed out on the university life"

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've definitely developed my leadership qualities and my teamwork, I've always been able to use these skills but the environments my apprenticeship has placed me in has helped them flourish. In addition, I've learnt how to communicate with stakeholders effectively, prompt-tuning for AI, JavaScript and I've developed foundational knowledge of AWS and Salesforce

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well organised in the sense that I'm aligned to the tech pillar of Accenture and I have the freedom to move around and develop myself professionally and learn new skills. I enjoy the structured mobility!
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Accenture has a buddy system so from the moment I join the company I have someone (typically another apprentice in the year above) who looks out for me on a personal level and I have a People Lead (career counselor) who looks out for me on a professional level. In addition, to the various company resources and culture that promotes an environment of understanding I always feel supported
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
UEL lecturers make it clear that we can come to them for support when we need it; however, this is often done as "module surgeries" that take place mid-week when we're at work so it makes it impossible to attend. We do get to ask questions on a Monday but depending on how packed our schedule for the day is, this doesn't always happen. Although, in doing my dissertation, my academic advisor has always made herself available, and I really appreciate that
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It's given a holistic view on how businesses operate from a structural and theoretical point of view but also interlinks the technical aspect of it. This directly mirrors the work I undergo, whether client-facing or internal. Whilst the actual role I undertake in the business isn't reflected in the qualification, the understanding to perform my role certainly is
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Definitely, there are plenty available for people. Sometimes they're advertised but they're more done through word of mouth; for example, I'm part of the skiing & snowboarding society and we go an annual ski trip! Also there are always in-house networking events and socials for people to meet others, and learn about different career paths

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The work-life balance is good, company culture is kind and collaborative and I feel like my voice is heard despite being an apprentice. I feel like I'm able to grow and I'm not being stifled, this really matters
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
In my opinion, the most important things to showcase are your personality and passion. I always say this to applicants: 'you know yourself, your friends know you and so do your teachers; but now you're in a situation with someone who's never met you.' It's absolutely vital that you express who you are as a person, otherwise they'll have no idea who you are/what you stand for. Accenture recognises that we're not the finished product so they won't expect us to have all the skills in the world but they do want to see you have a thirst for knowledge and a passion that will help you to work hard no matter the situation
