Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Day to day at Accenture, I work as a GenAI-focused developer supporting projects within the financial services sector, where my role blends technical delivery with client interaction. I spend much of my time building and refining proof-of-concept solutions, using tools like Python, APIs, and LLM integrations to demonstrate how AI can solve real business problems. This involves writing and testing code, troubleshooting issues, and iterating quickly based on feedback. Alongside the technical work, I collaborate closely with teammates and stakeholders, joining stand-ups, contributing to planning sessions, and helping shape the direction of solutions. I’m also involved in creating presentations and demos, where I translate complex technical ideas into clear, engaging explanations for clients. Overall, my day is a mix of coding, problem-solving, and communication, with a strong focus on delivering practical, innovative AI solutions.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’ve developed my soft skills significantly. I’m now more confident explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, particularly during demos and presentations. Working closely with my team has improved my collaboration and time management, and I’ve learnt how to adapt quickly based on feedback or changing requirements. I’ve also started to build strong stakeholder management skills through client-facing work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It's a good structure of working 4 days a week and doing Uni once a week. Being able to do Uni remotely online only is a huge benefit as it allows for a better work life balance during the programme and you can focus on only Uni on your allocated day.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Accenture is very supportive in terms of Career support, Mental health support and just overall community and network support. They have lots of initiatives in place to progress your career which includes mentoring, lots of training in any area of your choice and networks so that you can speak to various people who have different careers you might be interested in. I was very happy about the amount of support given.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training provider BPP are pretty solid with support. There are monthly meetings with your apprentice lead in which they check up on you and see how things are going. These meetings are a great opportunity to raise any flags and discuss things privately as your lead supports you as much as possible. In regard to the actual Uni work, that's fine too as the lecturers are always happy to help if you reach out.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
In most jobs the theory that you learn is always going to be different to what you actually apply at work. You'll learn things at work that aren't necessarily on your course so there is some disconnect in that sense but nothing concerning because it is important to learn the basics and build from there. Part of the course includes modules on Career development which is important for those who have come straight from a school background.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There's lots of this at Accenture. Some of the key ones they do at the Manchester office includes Padel, Pilates, Games nights, Cheese and wine nights - there's always a lot going on, its great.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Overall it's a great place to work at the beginning of your career due to the vast amount of opportunity there is as long as you put yourself forward. The people are social and welcoming and easy to work with.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
Really acknowledge the fact that it is a consulting company so its very important to have business focused skills such as clear communication, prioritisation of the client and keeping the client happy. A lot of this is emphasised during the interviews as well.
