Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is to support clients in solving complex business challenges and improving how their organisations operate. Day to day, I work as part of a project team at a client, analysing data, conducting research, and helping turn findings into clear, actionable insights. I spend a lot of time building presentations, reports, and sometimes financial or operational models to support recommendations.
I collaborate closely with my team, checking in regularly to align on priorities and progress, and occasionally engage with clients to gather information or share updates. My work often involves balancing multiple tasks, adapting to new industries or problem areas, and working to tight deadlines. Along the way, I’m continuously developing my problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills while gaining exposure to different business functions and transformation projects.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme, particularly the diversity it offers. I’ve had the opportunity to work on a range of different projects and roles, which keeps the work interesting and constantly challenges me to learn new skills. This variety has also given me exposure to different industries and ways of working, helping me build a well-rounded understanding of consulting and where my interests lie.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Through my project work, I’ve strengthened my analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly when working with data and turning insights into clear recommendations. I’ve also improved my communication skills, especially in creating structured presentations and conveying complex information in a simple, client-friendly way.
In addition, I’ve built on my teamwork and stakeholder management skills by collaborating closely with colleagues and engaging with clients. The fast-paced nature of the role has also helped me improve my time management and adaptability, as I regularly balance multiple tasks and adjust to new challenges and project environments.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I’d say the programme is moderately well organised. While the overall structure is clear, there have been some challenges with communication between the university and Accenture, particularly at the beginning. At times, expectations and processes felt a bit unclear, likely due to initial teething problems. However, this has improved over time as things have become more established.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Overall, the support has been good, but at the start I was quite quickly thrown into the deep end, and more regular check-ins from apprentice leads would have been helpful during that initial period. That said, support has improved as the programme has become more established, and I now feel well supported in my role.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I’d say the support from my training provider has been mixed. It was quite weak at the start, as there wasn’t a clear point of contact and leadership changed a few times, which made things feel a bit unstructured and uncertain. At times, it seemed like they were still figuring things out themselves. However, this has gradually improved as the programme has progressed and become more established.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think my qualification helps to some extent, but its impact on my day-to-day role is fairly moderate. It provides useful foundational knowledge and helps build core skills like analysis, structured thinking, and understanding business concepts. However, a lot of what I use in my role is learned on the job through project experience. At times, the link between the qualification content and my day-to-day work isn’t always clear, but it still adds value in supporting my overall development.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I’ve taken part in a range of “side of desk” activities, which have been a great way to meet people and get involved beyond my core role. For example, I’ve joined a netball team, which has been a really enjoyable way to stay active and socialise with colleagues. There are also opportunities to get involved in networking events and other initiatives across the business.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend Accenture for the variety of opportunities and the exposure you get early on in your career. You’re able to work on a wide range of projects across different industries and roles, which keeps the work interesting and helps you quickly build a broad skill set. It’s also a great environment for learning and development. You gain hands-on experience from day one, develop strong problem-solving and communication skills, and have access to a wide network of colleagues to learn from. Alongside this, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of your core role, which makes it a well-rounded and enjoyable place to work.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
When applying, try to use examples that show how you’ve handled challenges, worked collaboratively, or taken initiative. Being adaptable and open to learning is also really important, as the work can be fast-paced and varied. And just be yourself as Accenture looks for people who are not only capable, but also curious, proactive, and willing to get stuck in.
