Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a Site Engineer, my day to day activities are a mix of supervising, planning and problem solving on site. My typical day on site involves attending morning site briefings, holding toolbox talks, supervising subcontractors carrying out work, monitoring health and safety to ensure everyone on site is complying, solving any problems on-site like design changes and delays, liaising with project managers and recording all progress made on site.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme, as it offers a combination of hands on experience with learning, allowing me to develop real life skills while earning. In my role no two days are the same, there is always different tasks and environments which keeps it challenging and prevents it from getting boring. This gives me real world experience, building practical knowledge that gives me a head start in my career helping me to progress further.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since beginning my apprenticeship in September, I have developed existing skills as well as new ones. I have improved my communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through real on-site experience. I have also gained technical and practical skills that are necessary for my role, by working closely with people who have great expertise and experience.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My apprenticeship programme is well structured, with a good balance between practical on-site experience and theoretical learning while at college. I have clear goals and a plan to develop my skills over time, starting with basic tasks and gradually taking on more responsibility. Regular support from supervisors and assessors helps me track my progress and identify areas for improvement. The combination of training, real work experience, and feedback ensures I am continuously developing in my role.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have received a good level of support throughout my apprenticeship so far. All my colleagues and supervisors are approachable and happy to help if I need any guidance or support. I often receive regular feedback, helping me to understand what I am doing well and where I can improve, which helps me to build confidence and progress in my role.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider provides clear guidance on coursework and assignments, making sure I understand what is required. I also have regular reviews or check-ins to track my progress and make sure I am on target. Overall, the support helps me stay organised and confident in completing my qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that my qualification helps me perform better in my role by giving me strong background knowledge of the work I carry out on-site. It helps me understand the reasons behind tasks, such as construction methods, drawings, and health and safety requirements.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are extra-curricular activities available at my workplace. For example, we have a weekly 5-a-side football game which is a good way to stay active and socialise with colleagues. There are also monthly quiz nights, which help build team relationships in a more relaxed environment. These activities create a positive work culture and give opportunities to connect with others outside of normal work tasks.
