Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I rotate around numerous HR teams so each day in each rotation is different. My day to day currently within my rotations within the compliance team involves regular meetings, writing reports and completing audits and DSAR.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The opportunities ive had from Balfour beatty within 6 months are amazing, I have contributed to planning HR conferences , Attended cross-company hackathon events and many more events. And my KNowledge has grown amazingly.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I began my CIPD level 5 apprenticeship within HR straight from sixthform with limited HR expereince and corporate business knowledge, but since september i have expanded my knowledge within HR through my qualification and workplace knowledge.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very organised on my first day i was given my next 2 years planned out of what HR teams i would expereince and work with.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Line managers and Senior managers have provided amazing support to help me adjust from Sixthform to an 9 to 5 job making me feel welcomed as well as comfortable at work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I complete my CIPD with Leep talent development my lectuor is amazing at answering emails , scheduling calls when needed . My working coach does this too she is amazing support
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I learn more on the job in terms of process, but when it comes theorys and understanding human behaviours, reactions and impacts I understand so much more and can apply so much knowledge into my role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Lots of infinity groups within Balfour Beatty. Within hr we have a fun team who plans in work and out of work activitys and within our Newcastle office we have N-life platform were their is lots of free events for people to get involved with and attended such as Threater trips and restuarnt vists

Balfour Beatty invests hugely into their Early Career programme giving apprentices and grads amazing opportunities that not many other companies other. The support system and encouragement ive recieved throughout my apprenticeship is amazing.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Balfour Beatty?
Just be yourself and open within your interview espeically with apply to Early careers role you arent excepted to know everything, that what your apprenticeship is for!
