Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

A great role to apply academics knowledge to real life experience, and daily on site activities. Daily tasks include site inspections of environmental compliance, environmental support for the team, exploring environmental opportunities for each project, analysing the reviewing waste and delivery compliance on multiple systems and keeping track of environmental data for monthly and quarterly reports.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Programme dives into all areas of environmental science and allows you to explore areas that you may not have known or may not have an initial interest in otherwise. It's a good mixture of academic learning and fieldwork as well as some technical learning too, which all tie in do what I do at work.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed a greater influence on communicating with impact, and found ways of finding environmental solutions to site barriers. I have also learned how to complete complex records such as environmental risk assessments, site waste management plans, Carbon calculators and sustainability plans as well as provide support on early site opportunities, like rain water harvesting systems and green hoarding.

It is still in its trial and error days but it's overall very well structured.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Employer is extremely supportive and will go above and beyond apprenticeship expectations.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Usually pretty good, response time is quick with emails and there are mostly solutions to any issues. Catered to extra learning by having extra sessions on SPSS as well as GIS during those modules.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have learned so much from my modules so far that have been very applicable and useful when working within my role and employment. Some things don't always align, but being able to put the knowledge to practice when it's applicable reinforces the importance and also helps solidify the understanding.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, many different ally groups and networking events, as well as volunteering opportunities. These are circles across the country so are applicable to the entire business.

Be confident, and express the passion you have for the role and department you are going into. E.g, I am already very passionate about the environment and wanted to learn how to apply knowledge and create sustainable ways in reducing the impact for the industry
