Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5 stars - Every day I arrive on site and head into the welfare cabins in my Balfour Beatty Yard. Everyday is different, whether that be managing different contractors carrying out different works on site, to being in the office taking meetings. The work culture is really good and I feel I am still learning every day. Balfour Beatty look after their Early Careers extremely well supporting them in all aspects of their career.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5 stars - The programme is brilliant, I have been supported from the day I started and everyone I have met throughout the business is there to give you a helping hand. My college studies were based down in Loughborough England on a month at college and 6 month on site which I thoroughly enjoyed and met some great people who are in the same situation as I am.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have gained a HNC so far from my college studies which I am incredibly grateful for. The amount of training and tickets that Balfour Beatty offer is endless. My advice is to take advantage of this as much as possible while you can.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well structured programme, right from the first day I was partnered with a buddy who showed me the whit's about Balfours. I was given the opportunity to switch projects to a Cabling Job from an OHL job to give me a varied experience in what I would want to peruse my career in, which i thought was extremely beneficial.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Endless support is available from all corners of the business, no matter what it may be they can provide you support with it
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My employer provided me a lot of support while away at my studies. They paid for my travel, accommodation and food while away. They also provide mentoring when required
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification was electrical and electricity engineering in power networks. This provided me with lots of knowledge when coming back on site, everything was relevant to my role and I was able to translate what I saw in the classroom to out on site.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Brathay residential is available for Early careers. It is a 3 day event where you do various activities in the Lake district
