Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
My contracted role is a motor claims handler, however I have had the opportunity to upskill from being a claims handler. I have been in charge of our departments non-fault hire referrals and reducing missed opportunities. I am currently a Quality Performance Technician, meaning that I audit handler's calls to make sure they are hitting the correct criteria and giving feedback if this isn't the case.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
There is a good balance of university work as well as the day-to-day workload. It is a busy schedule with high expectations, but there is ample opportunity for upskilling or promotions.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
My analytical skills have been sharpened through various university modules that I have linked back to the workplace.
I have also completed internal coaching courses and mentor a new group of apprentices, this has helped to develop my leadership skills by expanding my knowledge and putting these techniques into practice.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
The programme is very well structured with all in-person university days for the course available. Covea also make sure we have ample study/ off-the-job time to be able to complete assignments and also put us in departments/ roles where we can link our modules to the workplace.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
There are monthly catch-ups scheduled with our learning and development team to discuss how we are finding the apprenticeship as a whole, what is going well and any feedback we would like to give, if anything isn't going according to plan then the relevant support would be organised to help with this. We also have mentors, someone within the company who has completed the degree as part of the apprenticeship, that we can reach out to for support, whether that be with an assignment, the content or any general advice.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
We have routine meetings (every 3 months) with a degree apprenticeship assessor as well as our line manager, we discuss progress with university and in work and how we can link the learning into our day-to-day role. For any university content we can reach out to the current module tutor, there is also wellbeing support available at the university.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
Completing a degree apprenticeship allows me to be upskilled into the more technical areas of motor claims, this allows the module content to link directly to my role, and if it does not, then the relevant meetings or experience can be set up in that department. This support allows me to see the bigger picture at Covea and understand why we have certain processes which must be followed.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

3/5
This tends to vary by department, in motor claims there doesn't tend to be many extra-curricular activities to be involved in. However, elsewhere in the company (particularly commercial lines) there tends to be frequent professional networking events. Personally, most of my networking is done by reaching out to other departments if i need for information for an assignment, which would be done during work time.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Covea Insurance to a friend?

Yes

Why?

There is a supportive workplace culture where you are encouraged to pursue your own professional development. Workplace surveys are done quite frequently throughout the year and if there is anything that needs to be worked on, changes are implemented. Overall the business is committed to continuous development and doing the best job we possibly can!

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Covea Insurance?

Spaces for degree apprenticeships can be quite competitive, so I would recommend showcasing perhaps a quality or trait that makes you stand out from others.
