Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Supporting the team across a variety of transactions, including drafting and reviewing legal documents. Developing key skills in negotiation, client communication, and relationship management. Attending meetings, client events, and training sessions to build commercial awareness and practical experience. Responsibilities increase progressively throughout the programme, enabling you to gain confidence in corresponding directly with clients and managing matters more independently.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy the programme, as it is varied and allows me to learn through practical experience. Being surrounded by experienced team members is extremely valuable and has greatly supported my development. It is also very rewarding to look back and see how much I have learned over time.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

The apprenticeship develops your entire skill set and gradually increases your responsibilities, all with plenty of support. Personally, I would say my communication and organisational skills have developed the most, as I have had many opportunities to practice them in real transactions and client interactions.

Definitely. The University of Law gives a clear structure for each year, so you always know what to expect. The firm provides excellent guidance and explains how the programme works, making it easy to understand your responsibilities and opportunities for growth.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support is great, with regular check-ins and chances to give feedback.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support on the programme is excellent, with regular check-ins and opportunities to provide feedback. The team is also mindful of the fact that you are balancing work alongside the programme and takes this into account.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The law degree complements the work you do day-to-day and helps enhance your performance in the office. Even topics that don’t have a direct link to your team often have some overlap, allowing you to make useful connections and apply what you’ve learned.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is a wide range of societies and clubs to get involved in, from sports to reading, knitting, sailing, and more—almost anything you can think of! The office also hosts free drinks every Thursday after work, as well as numerous team socials, providing plenty of opportunities to get involved and meet new people.
