Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work with the community alarms department. I answer emergency calls, I attend calls to lift clients, I set up client accounts, I close down client accounts, I set up client direct debits, I procure any equipment we need, I pay all invoices for 2 departments, I handle incoming and outgoing post, I handle all account queries
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
It was good at first. It the last few months has been a nightmare with Sandwell college as they keep changing what they want such as how things are laid out and how we record off the job hours. Then decided some of my off the job hours weren’t relevant 6 months after they were originally accepted. They also don’t fully know what I’m doing when it comes to the epa as I am the first person to go though this course with their new awarding body

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
1/5
Not really but that’s due to doing a level 2 before the level 3 so the skills were already present from that

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
They don’t know what they are doing as I’m the first person to go through program & they keep changing their minds on how they want things doing
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The employer has been amazing and very helpful and understanding. Most issues stem from Sandwell college who I do my learning though
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Lack of communication over what they want and most of the work is just me being left to do it
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It allowed to get into a full time post
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I go to networking events quite often and attend several cross team meetings

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sandwell Council?
