Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I help different finance teams understand how the business is performing by checking important data, creating reports, and helping with forecasts. Each day, I make sure the information we use is correct by doing data checks, looking for errors, and reviewing reports. I help put together monthly results and predictions about future performance, and I work with people from different departments to gather the information we need. I’m also learning how insurance products work and how to use tools like Excel and Power BI to analyse data. Overall, my job is to support the finance teams by keeping data accurate, helping explain what the numbers mean, and building my skills so I can take on more responsibility.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme because it lets me learn in different finance teams, build new skills, and take on real responsibility. The work is varied and keeps me engaged, and I like developing my knowledge of data, reporting, and insurance while being supported by the teams I rotate through.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I’ve learnt several new skills and also developed existing ones throughout my programme. I’ve built stronger data analysis skills through daily data checks, working with reports, and learning tools like Power BI and advanced Excel. I’ve also improved my understanding of insurance products and how different finance processes work across the business. On top of this, I’ve developed softer skills such as communication, problem‑solving, and working with stakeholders, which have grown through collaborating with different teams and taking on more responsibility in each rotation.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is generally well organised and structured. Each rotation has clear objectives, supportive teams, and a good balance between learning and real responsibility. The handovers between teams have helped me understand what’s expected, and there’s always someone available to guide me when I need help. The structure also gives me the chance to gradually build skills and confidence, while still being flexible enough to let me explore different areas of finance.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a strong level of support from my employer. Each team I rotate into takes the time to explain processes, answer questions, and help me build confidence in my tasks. I also have support available from my manager and colleagues across the department, who are always willing to guide me when I need help. The combination of structured training, regular check‑ins, and a supportive team environment makes it easy to ask questions, learn new skills, and keep developing throughout the programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I receive a good level of support from BPP while working towards my qualifications. They provide clear learning materials, structured online sessions, and practice questions that help me prepare for each exam. My skills coach also checks in regularly to review my progress, answer questions, and help me stay on track with both my studies and my apprenticeship requirements. I find it helpful that BPP offers different ways to learn—live classes, recorded sessions, and written resources—so I can choose what works best for me. Overall, the support they give makes it easier to balance studying with my day‑to‑day role.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that my qualification through BPP helps me perform better in my role because it gives me a strong foundation in the financial principles that I use day to day. The CIMA content helps me understand how financial reporting, forecasting, and business performance all link together, which makes it easier to pick up new tasks and understand the reasoning behind the processes I work with. Studying alongside my practical experience means I can apply what I learn straight away—especially topics like costing, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial controls. Overall, the qualification supports my role by building my confidence, improving my technical understanding, and helping me see the bigger picture behind the tasks I’m responsible for.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are a range of extra‑curricular activities to get involved in at work. These include social events organised by different teams, company‑wide gatherings, and opportunities to network with colleagues across the business. There are also professional development events and training sessions that help you build connections while learning new skills. Depending on the department, there can also be volunteering opportunities, well‑being activities, and informal socials that help create a positive and supportive work environment. Overall, there are plenty of ways to get involved outside of day‑to‑day work if you want to meet new people and feel part of the wider company community.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Beazley to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend Beazley because it’s a supportive and welcoming place to start a career, with lots of opportunities to learn and take on real responsibility. The culture is collaborative, people are always willing to help, and there are great chances to build skills and grow professionally. It’s a great environment for apprentices who want both guidance and independence.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Beazley?
Some advice I’d give to anyone applying to Beazley is to be yourself and show genuine interest in learning. Beazley values curiosity, teamwork, and people who take initiative, so it helps to talk about times you’ve asked questions, solved problems, or taken responsibility. It’s also useful to research the company’s culture and values, as these are a big part of what makes Beazley unique. During the interview, don’t be afraid to talk about what you want to learn and how you’d like to grow—Beazley really supports development. Finally, show that you’re open‑minded, positive, and ready to get involved, because those qualities go a long way here.
