Student Engineer Review

I work within teams for multiple projects that are allocated certain days. For some projects I'm using software such as autoCAD, Projectwise, Microdrainage, etc. For other projects this is not required as the work is less technical. The tasks allocated range in importance and difficulty, but there is always someone on hand to help out when I get stuck.

Yes. Everyone there didn't treat me as if I were only working in the company for a few weeks, it felt as if I were a graduate engineer. Therefore, during projects I was being given heavily weighted tasks that I was competent enough for and nothing menial. The responsibility wasn't too large that I felt pressured however.

Yes, mostly skills within the software aspect of the job. Virtually all engineering-specific software I use in this internship I had not used before in university, so this has given me a more broader understanding of the industry and how different it is compared to university. Some projects have also prepared me on modules that I will be taking once I return to university as they are highly related.

A lot. There was always someone directing me on the tasks I was handed and giving me the support where was needed. If that person was absent they would give me the contact of another person working on the same project to help me.

Positive. Everyone was very friendly and easy to talk to. Advice about my career was also given where appropriate which was much appreciated. The company was also very flexible when it came to where I could work from, what hours I could work, etc.

To a high extent. This has been a great learning experience for me and allowed me to figure out what I like working on in a patient environment.
