Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
Balfour Beatty have created an excellent graduate scheme with lots of opportunities to develop skills and knowledge in my chosen field. On the project I am working on I was quickly given a lot of responsibilities to stretch my capabilities and learn how to perform in my field.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I have always worked on the project I am currently on, my responsibilities have changed throughout my time here I started by assisting the management of one block and helping get subbies ready to start their works on our project. I know fully run my own block and am responsible for tracking its progress against our programme and organsising future works.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
My views are listening to and ideas are heard when it comes to how I want to run my block. The other block manager also listen to my opinion if I can experience with certain trades or section of work.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
All travelling expense is covered and when working away travel and accommodation and a contribution to food is covered as well. Additionally we are given access to benefits such as health and dental care each year if we want to sign up for that.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
Very well, I am learning key skills to help me drive towards my goal of being a project manager.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
I am constantly developing new skills. It is very self driven in this role the only improvement for me would be to be checked up on more often so check I am 100% doing the right thing.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
Any support you need is just an email away, also all the managers in my office are happy to help out in anyway if you ask.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
I know my working hours and I am still able to get away from work at the right time and get to the gym or rugby training in my evenings.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
I was welcomed into the office by everyone who works here. If I ever need to shoot off early for an appointment that can be accommodated for as long as it is communicated properly.
How would you rate Balfour Beatty initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
Balfour Beatty put a lot of work into making its workforce diverse and inclusive. Lots of information is available online from Balfour Beatty about our diversity and inclusivity initiatives
How would you rate Balfour Beatty CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
We often have school visits from local schools, colleges and universities. At my project we also value the opinion of our local stakeholders which is great to see.
