Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
Overall the experience has been great with an emphasis on personal and business development , with many opportunities and courses to learn further about any specific subset of work in any sector of the business.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
As a graduate site engineer my role encompasses many aspects of the project; on site works, design checks, subcontractor meetings as well as the supervision of work areas and packages. I most enjoy how different and unique each day is and how the team works together to solving any issues that may occur at any given time.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

My role means i am involved in many parts of the job and also get to see the result of my work come to fruition on site which is meaningful in itself. Everyone is valued for the part they play.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

There are many benefits to the work that is done here and I feel I am fairly compensated at this point by the benefits I am provided.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

I am learning everyday from senior persons in my position so feel I am being prepared well for what is to come.

Everyday is an opportunity to learn and develop as well as the learning hub which provides me with a chance to develop further if desired.

Why?
Its a great place to start as a graduate with many benefits included in the work that you do. There is a great work cultural with a nice blend of strong work ethic while also making it an enjoyable place to be in, people are very accommodating and patient regarding new starts and there is plenty of time to develop within the company.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

My role has exceeded my expectations of what was to occur and what I would be allowed to do within the company, the freedom allowed provides the opportunity to better yourself in your given position while also pushing you to do better.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Balfour Beatty?
Be open minded, willing to learn and go outside your comfort zone as that will give you the best chance to develop. University and school is not the end of your learning and your career here is only the beginning, listen to those around you who are more senior as they will only help in bettering yourself.
