Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Premier Foods?
The graduate scheme is offering a wide array of experience across FMCG manufacturing. I am encouraged to take ownership of my work, structure to approach problems, and career development through the array of learning and development courses made available to me
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
The main responsibilities included delivering process optimisation projects to improve a CIP process for an allergen containing vessel. Delivering projects to improve yield of food product manufacturing.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

The team take my input on board and are also willing to share constructive criticism for areas of improvement. My contributions bring a scientific approach to some subjective tasks.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

There is a hamper including discounts to many popular restaurants and brands. There is free online healthcare available. There is free mental health sessions and grocery aid sessions. There is also financial advice available.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

The role is challenging me to learn team work, and team management. In terms of soft skills it has equipped me to converse with employees at all levels and being professional in my approach. In terms of technical improvement the role enables me to explore key chemical engineering principles such as mass/energy balances and experimental proficiency too.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

The rate is fast, from the initial introduction to the current role equipped me with a general understanding of what skills are expected of me. However over the course of the role I have been picking up more skills, faster than I expected due to the nature of the role

Nothing is missing for me here, on the grad scheme I am offered a business mentor who is higher up in the business. This is useful to guide with projects and also personal/mental wellbeing. I am also paired with a grad buddy, who is a graduate from the previous batch, this is helpful for insights into the role and more specific problems
How is your work-life balance?

The workplace encourages a good work-life balance. Work can be left at work and I have time before and after work for my personal wellbeing
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

The work culture is very positive, the general workforce is optimistic and wanting to drive change and work with passion. I have been included in positive chats from the beginning of the scheme and hybrid work is facilitated if needed with no pushback
How would you rate Premier Foods initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

There is an emphasis on diversity and inclusion, recently the company celebrated Diwali and Movember etc. Company wide there are initiatives taken to celebrate differences and embrace them.
How would you rate Premier Foods CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

The company is constantly striving towards giving back to the planet from start to end of the product lifecycle, even from a supplier level. The company also volunteers in local communities for example with Fareshare

Premier Foods as an employer cares for the employees on a personal level. There is a great support network available to you. Along with this there is room for growth in terms of your career. Career progression can be mapped out to you by other employees according to your personal goals.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

The role promised autonomy for my work, which is true. It gives me the space to grow. The recruitment process was specific about driving change which has been relayed into my role.
