Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
It is a great company to work for especially as a graduate, working on major projects provides excellent experience within the construction industry as well as practical and technical skills for career progression.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Site supervision adhering to health and safety, quality control and environmental compliance. Setting people to work and assisting towards project delivery on site. Understanding drawings and schematics to ensure quality construction. Planning for works to be carried out efficiently.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

By working with experienced project managers, engineers and site managers, I am able to contribute by learning from them and assisting with the delivery of the project. By working with others and carrying out tasks efficiently I feel valued.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

There are bi annual pay reviews, hence if you develop skills and knowledge at a strong rate and you can be rewarded. Company car is also a great benefit.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

I am learning rapidly on site, seeing the operations first hand, working with experienced people has accelerated my growth and as time goes on, my experience is building for the future.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

There are a wide range of industry recognised training which helps toward career progression. Working with Balfour Beatty has greatly increased my skills for project work and there is always something new to learn every day.

Overall there is a good culture towards wellbeing, I feel comfortable speaking to my manager if I have any concerns.
How is your work-life balance?

Site work can be challenging as it requires to be on site full time and can be long hours depending on the project, however it is the best time to learn about the industry.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

Overall it is an inclusive, positive and welcoming culture where working in teams help with learning.

The overall culture helps towards this but there are also groups on the internal social media platform which bring people together.
