Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
Really positive. Beginning in operations, learning the foundations of delivery, and then moving into the commercial to gain experience in quantity surveying. Working across both areas has given me a solid understanding of how projects run and helped me see what aspects of the job I enjoy most.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My current responsibilities include commercially leading a number of projects and taking full ownership of their commercial performance. This involves ensuring applications are submitted and paid on time, submitting variations when required, managing project forecasting, and completing commercial reporting. I liaise closely with the operations team, subcontractors, procurement, and other areas of the business. The role gives me exposure to a wide range of commercial and project functions, which I really enjoy.
