Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

The summer placement programme involves two team projects. One is a bridge design competition and the other is a greener and better project where we research alternative sustainable solutions in the construction industry. I get put on billable work as well were I help on multiple project. I am adding bridges into a arcadis database

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes a lot more than i thought i would have been given. My team have a lot of trust in me and if I made a mistake in my workings they would explain to me where I went wrong and helped resolve the problem

I have developed better communication skills by communicating with engineers at different levels.
I now have a better understanding and practical application of engineering

Everyone was very supportive and they are many people I can turn to for guidance. My line manager is very helpful and makes sure I am always happy with how things are going.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The culture and general atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. Everyone is friendly and makes an effort to make sure I was happy and enjoying the summer placement.
