Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
Overall my experience has been very positive. I have had a great network of support through out my graduate scheme. From my line managers and wider supply chain and procurement team. Everyone has played an important role in developing me. I have had the flexibility to take on a wide range of responsibilities.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Supplier Performance Evaluation
Supplier Relationship management including dispute resolutions in different areas, commercial, quality etc
Supply chain development through the supply chain sustainability school
Issuing comms to the supply chain on important updates
Supporting internal departments meet there LOS objectives
Formalising an onboarding process for BBV
Raising requisitions on R12
Ownership of 1 procurement package
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

I have been given the opportunity to lead several important pieces of work. I get the appropriate amount support and freedom to complete them
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

Yes it's very competitive for the graduate job market. Balfour beaty perks and benefits are also very generous.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

I have been given good amount of responsibilities to lead on and I feel this is exactly what i needed to grow. Balfour beaty also support with professional development with CIPS and APM.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

I have developed new technical skills using systems such as Jaggaer, oracle though a mix of training and my day to day role. My skills around procurement, supply chain and general construction knowledge has predominately come from my day to day role. My existing skills have been improved drastically whilst working on the HS2 project. I'm much more confident with public speaking and presenting my work. As well networking I have

I have had a great network of support through out my graduate scheme. From my line managers and wider supply chain and procurement team. Everyone has played an important role in developing me. I have had the flexibility to take on a wide range of responsibilities. Support from HR team can be delayed but they do support well when they engage.
How is your work-life balance?

Since getting on the graduate scheme I have got into a steady routine of exercising regularly and making a wellbeing a priority outside of work. I have enough time and energy to pursue things I want outside of work.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

Overall positive work culture, good opportunities for hybrid work which are very flexible convenient for staff.
How would you rate Balfour Beatty initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

One of my responsibilities in the supply chain team is to support the EDI department. They have a great team that is very engaged internally and externally with the supply chain.
How would you rate Balfour Beatty CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

One of my responsibilities in the supply chain team is to support the sustainability and community engagement departments. They have a great team that is very engaged internally and externally with the supply chain. Volunteering days at schools and local nature reserves.
