Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
Joining Balfour Beatty was one of the greatest decisions I’ve made. The support I’ve received and opportunities I’ve been given have been truly amazing and I genuinely love what I do. Couldn’t have asked for a better organisation to join!!
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
4x 6 month rotations, all of which have given me a deeper understanding and appreciation of the complexity of working in HR. It’s a people facing role and I really enjoy collaborating with people in the wider business and learning from them.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

The work environment in my rotations have always created the opportunity to offer suggestions and my ideas to projects because regardless of whether the idea is carried forward or not, my team always thinks them over, provides feedback and encourage me to continue coming up with ideas. This is something I massively value and encourages me to continue to think of innovative ideas.

The rotations are helping to gain a well rounded view of HR, which will ultimately allow us to combine all the skills use to be a confident people focused HR professional

Lots of training opportunities for us alongside our formal Early careers programme and Graduate programme.

How is the support you receive?

All forms of support have been great. Each individual tries to support you as best they can and if they can’t, will always direct you to someone who can. No question is ever a silly question and everyone is so willing to help you learn and grow

The organisation is a big advocate for work life balance and I find that really encourages me to maintain my work life balance too.

Why?
It’s a great place to work, where everyone wants you to do well and grow. I’ve loved every minute of my graduate programme so far and can’t wait to see what else is ahead for me.

Preparation is great, learn about the company, but it’s equally as important to be yourself and answer truthfully.
