Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
Great experience, very welcoming and offer lots of opportunities. Great flexibility to get you on a project and role that interests you and plays to your experience and attributes.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Mainly interacting with all disciplines, collating Project Management Weekly and Monthly reports, creating diagrams and useful graphic's for project mobilisation. The variety makes everyday social and different from the next. You're never stuck on the same topic or document for long.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

Dealing with different disciplines you can contribute to each, providing assistance with sourcing and collecting information, or relaying information from suppliers and sub contractors to held everyone achieve a common goal.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

The benefits package offers a lot, and is up to the holder to decide what they would like to salary sacrifice or pay for outright. You can also buy through salary sacrifice extra holidays, which is great.
The expense system feels fairly slow at first, but once you get used to it its okay. The types of expenses you can claim are pretty good, and there is usually no issues when requesting accommodating to support long work journeys, office or site visits/events.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

I'm learning something new everyday and am going through extensive training. The exposure to all of the ways of working for different disciplines also allows gives me an insight into area's I may like to work in, in the future.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
There is plenty of formal training on offer, and it's possible to enrol on further courses to target specific needs for IEng or CEng etc charterships.

How is the support you receive?

Great line manager, a buddy who recently went through the enrolment, weekly check-ins with my team in person, monthly check-in with the Early Careers team. The support available is extensive.
How is your work-life balance?

Although working long hours, they are flexible where you can potentially stay late one day to leave slightly early another day for example. I still find plenty of time to balance with my social life and the gym.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

Overall a very positive atmosphere, it feels like everyone will go out of their way to help you. Nice set of company values that are often reminded through Monthly/Quarterly updates from senior managers.
How would you rate Balfour Beatty initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

There is a large focus on this as part of the core values, seems to be well received by all of the employees I work with. My direct team is already very diverse so it's great to get different inputs founded on different experiences.
How would you rate Balfour Beatty CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
Environmental impact seems to be at the forefront of all of the work that is carried out. Where necessary lots of expense is spent on a solution that avoids any impact at all.
