Student Engineer Review

We have regular bridge team meetings where we discuss and allocate work equally and iron out any issues. I sit at my desk and work on my projects such as my bridge design team competition or my business development task where I undertake research on design and build opportunities for Arcadis to potentially get involved with local authorities.

There is trust that I will get on efficiently in all the projects that are assigned to me so there is a great deal of responsibility there for me to perform to an expected standard. The work I do in the business development project is real, genuine work and I have a responsibility to update my project manager on my progress regularly.

I've learnt how to use Sketchup and there are training modules on Excel, AutoCAD and other relevant software. I have become more efficient with research tasks and improved my communication skills with my colleagues.

Whenever I need help, I can just call someone on Teams, email my line manager or even ask someone physically in the office and everyone is always happy to help and put time in to you.

The environment is relaxed and breaks are encouraged to assist with mental and physical wellbeing. We all have trust in each other that we won't reduce workload too much as Arcadis, after all, is a business so we must all work towards deadlines as best we can.

I loved being in the office around people who I aspire to be like and seeing what they do and how they work gave an insight into my personal professional development.
