Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
overall positive I have had gained lots of opportunities to support my development and excited to see how it can progress
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
i have enjoyed the networking events i have been part of hosting several events and taking up responsibilities
i moved over to the drawing office in july , i like the construction elements of this following a process and creating a drawing from a blank sheet understanding what it is im drawing
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

as new in this role im still learning ,however i have been able to get stuck in with several projects, i think there is opportunity to contribute but will just need to progress to that stage first

i have started my ceng journey and filling in the attributes i have managed achieved in the role preparing me for chartership
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

in this new role there has been lots of training as there is lots of software to be taught , its taught me the level of precision and detail that is required to produce a drawing as this will be sent to site so accuracy is key .

How is the support you receive?

my team are very supportive , i am in regular contact with them and would always offer support. There is a fair amount of EC in the office that all support each other
How is your work-life balance?

i think the flexible working hours are extremely helpful to achieve this allowing extra time to catch up on life or leaving the office early to beat the traffic and doing the rest at home.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

there is a welcoming inclusive work atmosphere.
I really like the hybrid working especially living far from the office it means i can still work without the added commute

there are several communities and awareness groups within the business making people feel included and respected with other like minded individuals. these communities are open to everyone whether it is an ally or part of the group its all inclusive environment where everyone feels safe
How would you rate Balfour Beatty CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

there are 2 volunteering days a year that can be used to support the local communities takes time out of your working day to reconnect with social values

Why?
i think its a great company to be part of especially as an EC. They seem to really value EC development across the business having opportunities that the rest of the employees might not get for instance big networking events , site visits , career development .

i was unsure what the role was when joining especially day to day what was expected .

be open and honest if you dont understand something
be curious to ask lots of questions no question is a wrong question
always ask yourself why something is happening in that way
