Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Toyota GB?
Working for Toyota GB has been a great experience so far, and has provided me with the critical skills to undertake a permanent role within the business. I thoroughly enjoy the challenges that are brought forward in each unique role, and the level of autonomy you are trusted to be responsible with across various projects. Toyota's customer first approach to doing business is deeply rooted in all workstreams, and enabled all teams to work together towards a collective objective or Hoshin. Finally, there is a big focus on personal development with tailored training courses and dedicated coaches to support your progression!
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
When working within the Value Chain Retention team, the focus was how we best support customer retention within our service, maintenance, and repair areas at dealerships. What I enjoyed most, is the opportunity to support on launching a brand new service product, being trusted with bringing forward a business case, stakeholder management, all the way through to customer launch communications. It was great to leave a 'stamp' within the business which I can look back on and know I made a difference!
My second role saw me largely focusing on addressing a complex and technical 'gap' identified by our dealer network. I really enjoyed working outside of my comfort zone (in a good way!) as a project lead, to support our network to bring in further revenue, and it helped me grasp the manufacturer/dealer relationship quite closely. This role was heavily focused on the customer experience, and involved journey mapping, and I was also given the space to propose new ways of thinking when it comes to supporting the sale of used electric vehicles!
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
I feel I am given ample opportunity to contribute to projects with a wide impact on the wider business, our customers, and centres. I am also given the space to bring forward my own recommendations.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
The perks I find most beneficial are private healthcare and other dental/vaccination compensations, holiday trading, subsidized canteen lunches, and an employee car scheme.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Toyota GB to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Toyota GB is a great place to work, with a competitive benefits/salary package, as well as an inclusive culture which fosters collaboration across teams, and with our partners (agencies, dealers, etc.). There is a large focus on development, and ensuring you have a voice which is heard, as well as flexibility to take your career your own way!
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
3/5
Even though your rotations are selected without your input, in my case I felt they were extremely valuable and in areas I wouldn't immediately find interest in! As a result it was very eye opening to complete my understanding of different business functions and department responsibilities. However, in some cases roles may not have matched your immediate career interests, but its about being flexible and taking on new experiences to broaden your perspectives.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Toyota GB?
Be open to learn as much as possible! There is no immediate expectation to deliver from day 1, and it's important to be curious and ask questions. You're on the grad scheme to learn and make of it what you'd like to gain in experience. Take opportunities to push yourself outside of your comfort zone.
