Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
During my time at Balfour Beatty, I’ve had the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally within a dynamic and supportive environment. As a Graduate Materials Engineer I have been involved in a variety of laboratory and site works which allowed me to advance my technical knowledge and exposure to large-scale major projects.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My main responsibilities so far have been undertaking laboratory tests including particle size distributions, manufacturing cube and cylinder specimens and calculating optimum moisture contents along with on site tests like the plate bearing test. I have also been responsible for writing the technical reports for the main trials and characterisation reports for the materials that we have been using. Writing RAMS has also been something I have been involved in.
