Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts and experiences as a graduate at Balfour Beatty, and I must say, it has been one of the best experiences one could wish for.
From the very beginning, I was welcomed with open arms by the senior leadership team. Their approachable and supportive nature has made a significant impact on my journey here. One of the highlights of my graduate scheme was spending nearly a week at the picturesque Lake District. This experience allowed me to network with other graduates and apprentices from various professions across the business, which was incredibly enriching.
The guidance provided in terms of career progression has been outstanding. The business genuinely supports our growth and offers numerous opportunities to explore different roles. I have always felt treated with respect, and the chance to move around different roles if I wish to change professions adds to the dynamic and flexible environment.
Balfour Beatty is truly one of the best companies a graduate could join. They are widely known for training their graduates to be the best in their respective fields and ensuring that we integrate seamlessly into our roles.
I am genuinely grateful for the experience and opportunities I have encountered so far, and I look forward to continuing my journey with Balfour Beatty.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
The main responsibilities of my role are as follows but not limited.
My key duties include cost management, issuing payment notices, and administering and managing compensation events. Additionally, I draft site instructions and raise early warnings to subcontractors.
All these tasks are carried out in conjunction with the signed agreed contract between the contractor and the subcontractor. This ensures that we maintain consistency and adherence to our contractual obligations.

The support I've received has been nothing short of excellent and greatly encouraging. My colleagues and the HR team have always been ready and happy to assist at any given point, which has made a significant difference in my journey here.
How is your work-life balance?

we have a gym on site available to all, Balfour Beatty provided a mental wellbeing workshop and provided free lunch
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

I am allowed to work three days in the office and 2 days at home. we have away days where we get to network and bond, not work related just drinks and meals
How would you rate Balfour Beatty initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

its one of their main rules which is to always be inclusive of others in terms of race, gender and the neurodiverse. designated parking for disable people and nut free area in the office
How would you rate Balfour Beatty CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

we have more than 75 community initiatives each year which involve local school and retire homes. planting trees and carbon reduction goal to go zero emission. we have rules on ethics which all employees are to comply to as it is mandatory to upkeep the integrity of the company to avoid bribery and slavery.
