Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
I've really enjoyed my experience at Balfour Beatty so far. I've had the opportunity to work with a fantastic team who have been incredibly supportive throughout my time here. I’ve always felt comfortable asking questions, and that’s made a big difference in my development.
Since starting my role I have been given a good level of responsibility early on, which has helped me grow both professionally and personally. I’ve also had access to some amazing opportunities, such as visiting the Lake District twice as part of the Early Careers Programme and taking part in the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, which was fully funded by the company.
While the starting salary was lower than some other graduate schemes at the time, the overall package was excellent — I was provided with a company car, and I’ve since progressed quickly. I now earn more than many other business graduate schemes offer at entry level.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue building my career at Balfour Beatty. They’re a great employer and I feel confident that there’s plenty of room for growth and progression.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Throughout my graduate scheme, I’ve taken the lead and been apart of a variety of responsibilities including quality assurance, administrative tasks, document control, KPI monitoring, and supporting the rollout of tablets across my contract. I’ve also acted as the contract lead for MyC - our idea generating platform, and have enjoyed learning new systems along the way. One of the most rewarding aspects has been working with over 100 colleagues across the contract — it’s given me a great insight into how the business operates and helped me build strong working relationships.
What I enjoy most is collaborating with people and seeing the tangible improvements in projects I’ve been part of. It’s incredibly satisfying to know that the work I’ve contributed to has made a real difference.
