Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
initially my start at balfour beatty was not great. It was unclear who my Line manager was and i was reporting to two people at once, and i was receiving conflicting information from them about why i was hired, my job role and what my career path looked like. I was hired into a civil engineering role but was then placed into an engineering management role as there is not a Civil engineering presence in Power in newcastle. i was then told i will need to move offices to continue a civil engineering role, which i was not made aware of before i joined the business. I have since moved offices and into a more civil engineering based role and my career path is more clear and concise, but for the first 6-7 months in the business i was unclear of what i was doing and had very little work.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
When i was in the engineering management role i was not given a lot of work that related to my background and the work i was given was more related to an admin role, with one or two tasks that was more based on presenting other peoples work and information gathering for other people in the business.
Currently i am working within Temporary works and have a more hands on design role with a lot of challenges and learning involved.
