Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at DHL?
A tough application process but a very good job where I was very lucky with the team I was placed into with super helpful colleagues who took their time to help, support and train me. The next generation talent team are very helpful too and are there for support throughout the 2 year programme
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Reporting
Data input
Networking
Contract management
Site visits
Collaborations projects
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
Highly recommend it. DHL is a huge company and there are so many opportunities to progress and learn in a variety of different roles and functions.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
It is very fair when compared to the other graduate schemes out there. It isn’t the highest and not the lowest but with the progression, training and prospect of a full time role at the end of the scheme it is well worth it!
There are employee discounts and benefits that are available if needed.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
You are taught many transferable skills that you can take with you should you decide to try something else after. But DHL is more than just delivery’s and warehouses so there are so many different roles you can get involved in.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
There is a whole platform dedicated to training and sessions provided throughout your 2 years aimed at training.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend DHL to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Perfect for a graduate to come into a brand new industry with a dedicated programme set up to help you and make you the best you can be to contribute positively towards the business and grow yourself personally as a colleague
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
3/5
With the recruitment process you are generally told a brief about the role but not specifics as I believe they are trying to work out if you are the right fit first. My role as a sales graduate is not actual ‘sales’ you are supporting a large team where there is a huge customer focus in which you may help colleagues who are customer facing but you won’t be in your first year and in your second year you get closer to the customers but don’t take the lead on any actual sales. You are not cold calling or selling which I wasn’t aware until joining but the role I went into is very good and I’ve loved it.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to DHL?
Be yourself, they aren’t looking for the finished article they are looking for those with values that they want within the organisation. You aren’t expected to know every single thing about the industry so come with an open mind. Also do your research into DHL as it is not just a delivery service and lorry driving.
