Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Savills?
I have really enjoyed my Graduate Scheme at Savills, I have been fortunate to rotate into multiple teams and I've gained a wide variety of experience. Ever since my first day, I have felt part of the team and I've been welcomed and supported by new colleagues each time I've joined a different team. My role is incredibly varied and I have been involved in lots of different tasks which have all contributed to my professional development.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
As a rotating graduate, I have been involved in multiple teams within the office, each with different responsibilities. My role has included preparing loan security and accounts purpose valuations, managing properties on behalf of institutional clients, working alongside the LPA receivers in the office to formulate recovery strategies, liaising with a multitude of clients, and completing site visits across a range of commercial assets. I love the fact that each day is different and the workload is incredibly varied.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
I have felt a valued member in each of the teams that I have been part of in the Birmingham Office. My colleagues have been immensely supportive throughout my graduate scheme by sharing their experience and knowledge and my questions have never gone unanswered. In each team, I have been given the platform to contribute meaningfully to the work the team is undertaking. In regular team meetings I have been included and encouraged to participate in the conversation.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
I find that on the whole Savills offer a good compensation package for Graduates, however some benefits are unavailable until you are qualified. I think the Private Medical Scheme, free Pension Advice and Mortgage Advice through SPF and MyRewards discount scheme are the most valuable.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
I think the structured training programme as part of the APC process has been invaluable, I believe that my early foundations at Savills have prepared me well for my future career. The guidance and support received has been fantastic, and I'm grateful for all the opportunities that I have received to further develop my career.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
I would rate the extent of my skill development as very high. The combination of formal training through the APC programme and the practical experience gained in my day-to-day role has been instrumental in my professional growth. The structured training has provided a solid foundation, while my rotations across different teams have allowed me to apply and refine these skills in a variety of contexts. Each team has offered unique challenges and learning opportunities, from preparing valuations and managing assets to working with LPA receivers and engaging directly with clients. This blend of formal learning and hands-on experience has enabled me to continuously develop both technical and interpersonal skills, and I feel well-prepared for the next stage of my career.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
The support has been excellent. My colleagues have been generous with their time and knowledge. Whether through day-to-day guidance or structured APC training, I’ve consistently had access to the help I need to grow professionally.
How is your work-life balance?
4/5
Overall I feel my work-life balance is fair. I’m usually in the office four days a week, and with an hour long commute each way, having one day working from home helps provide a good sense of balance and flexibility.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
The organisational culture at Savills has been very positive, both at a corporate level and within individual teams. There’s a strong emphasis on professionalism, collaboration, and support. Each team I’ve worked with has fostered a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, and I’ve consistently felt encouraged to contribute and grow.
How would you rate Savills initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
Savills’ commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility is clear from day one. These values are genuinely embedded in the company culture, and it’s evident that a huge amount of work is being done to champion D&I across the business. I’ve seen this reflected both in corporate initiatives and in the inclusive atmosphere within individual teams.
How would you rate Savills CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
I would rate Savills’ CSR initiatives highly. The company demonstrates a strong commitment to making a positive impact, whether through sustainability efforts, community engagement, or charitable activities across the office. These values are clearly embedded in the culture and reflected in both corporate programmes and team-level involvement.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Yes, I would definitely recommend Savills to a friend. The graduate scheme has offered excellent training, varied experience, and strong support across teams. It’s a great place to start and grow a career in property.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
The role has matched my expectations very well. The recruitment process gave a clear and accurate picture of the variety and responsibility involved in the graduate scheme. I’ve had the opportunity to rotate across teams, gain broad experience, and develop professionally. However, I think it would be helpful if the potential teams available for regional rotations were disclosed earlier in the recruitment process. This would give candidates a clearer picture of the opportunities and help them better understand the scope of experience they might gain.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Savills?
I'd recommend anyone who is considering applying to speak directly with current graduates or those in the role you're applying for, they can offer valuable insight into the day-to-day experience and what to expect. Your application needs to be authentic and reflect your character, it is the people within Savills that make it a success. Also being proactive during onboarding also helps set a strong foundation for success.
