Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Savills?
I would say my experience has been positive. I have had the opportunity to undertake a wide range of work throughout my rotations so far and have met lots of great people along the way. The people are friendly and I have made lots of good friends amongst the other graduates. The work is interesting and senior people take time to make sure you understand the task at hand and give feedback. What I enjoy most is the variety and exposure to different asset types and problems.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
The responsibilities vary from team to team as we change teams so frequently as part of the programme. The responsibilities have varied from reading leases, preparing valuation reports, collecting data and undertaking research, inspecting properties and construction sites, meeting with clients, negotiating lettings, undertaking business planning, summarising planning policy and much more. The variety is what I have enjoyed the most, learning a very broad skillset over the last year.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
In my current team I have been given direct responsibility to interact with a large charity client. This has involved reaching out to potential sites to lease and negotiating on pricing. I have also been able to undertake my own research, make suggestions and have an input in solving complex problems. There are of course times as a graduate where you are doing more of the preparatory work but you are normally then included in the discussion around the important parts undertaken by seniors. 4/5
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
Living in London on a graduate salary is often challenging, especially after a period of such high inflation, leaving you without too much disposable income, although this is manageable if you live sensibly. Otherwise however, having private healthcare is a good perk in addition to the wellness offering with free private mental health support. 4
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
The 6 rotations whilst demanding in the regular change, offer you with a huge insight into a very wide range of work in the industry making you into a rounded professional when you leave. Its a great place with great training and APC support so I am confident in my future prospects.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
The people I work with happily give time regularly to support you learning on the job. We are also provided with weekly APC sessions on different topics and there are opportunities sent around for CPD which is good. 5/5

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
As part of the programme I am supported by an internal mentor, APC Supervisor and Counsellor and have the ability to meet with members of the graduate programme to talk about any issues.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Work life balance hasn't really ever been much of a problem. I'm usually in the office 8:30 til 6 although this varies depending on how busy we are. During one rotation I spent a few weeks working til closer to 7 and on one or two occasions later but that was more out of choice to help the team rather than being an expectation.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
There's a general positive atmosphere across the office, people are nice and polite and easy to talk to. It's better than anywhere else I've worked.
How would you rate Savills initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
4/5
How would you rate Savills CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5
I had a volunteering day to support a local homeless shelter, it felt good to give back to the community. These type of events occur regularly with other charity bake sales and events going on too.
