Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Samsung Electronics?
I have had an amazing journey at Samsung so far, especially in my division, it is the people that make the graduate scheme. I've had very supportive managers who have supported me in every rotation allowing me to grow and take on real responsibility. The graduate scheme is paired with numerous training sessions throughout the two years to further enable your growth, this is especially useful if you haven't studied business at university.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I work in the Ads division of Samsung, here are the roles I have done so far:
Client Solutions Manager: I enjoyed learning how ad campaigns were activated, this allowed me to work with data and pull complicated reports to present back to clients. This enabled me to work with huge clients such as CHANEL, Paramount etc..
Sales: My next role was to actually sell our ad inventory. I enjoyed being pushed out of my comfort zone and getting comfortable in presenting/ pitching to clients, of up to 20 people. It's been great to really delve into our product portfolio and to learn the ins and outs. I've been able to do cold out reach and instigate new business for the company which has been very rewarding.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
From my first month at Samsung I was able to prove that I can take on real responsibility and contribute effectively to the team to truly lift off weight from full-time staff. Within the first 2 months I was managing my own campaigns and had my own set of clients. Similarly, when I moved to sales I was trusted to look after my own patch of clients and have become an essential member of the team.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
Samsung is a very well paid grad scheme which has allowed me to comfortably move to London. We have great perks such as Gym Flex and an additional allowance you can on several other extras. The staff sales portal is great for discount on any Samsung products.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
I feel very prepared for my future career, I have been able to ask for support in areas where I feel like I need support. It's clear that my managers want me to grow in my role and genuinely care for my development.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
Samsung has many support systems. When I joined, when doing well, I was placed with a mentor which I saw every 3 weeks. All my managers have been as equally supportive with weekly 1-1s where I am able to explain any worries I have. Samsung have a buddy system which a good way to make you feel settled when you start in the company with a peer.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Work life-balance is great and is advised in the office to only work your set 9-5pm working hours.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
Especially in the ESBO, Ads division we have an amazing culture. Being a smaller part of the business, you are on first name basis with a lot of the colleagues including business leaders. I have also joined the social committee where we organise many fun events/ evenings to socialise with fellow staff members.
How would you rate Samsung Electronics initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
4/5
At ESBO we have an EDI committee that are constantly educating the team about diversity, equality and other important key cultural moments throughout the year.
How would you rate Samsung Electronics CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Samsung Electronics to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend the grad scheme as it is well paid, Samsung is a huge company that produces experienced graduates. A piece of feedback we've received is that the team has never had a bad graduate which is a testament to the hiring process. You'll enter a supportive team with room to improve any areas of developments you might have in a positive environment.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Samsung Electronics?
Make sure to learn about the origin of Samsung and the values that the company holds. Be yourself in the interview, your personality will definitely shine out so try not to be too nervous on the day.
