Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my current role within the Talent Development and Management team, I balance operational oversight with strategic growth initiatives to support the wider business. Having completed three rotations across Reward, Brand Marketing, and Talent Development, I now leverage that cross-functional perspective to manage mandatory talent processes and track critical learning completions across the organization. Beyond these core operations, I collaborate closely with the Emerging Talent team to drive our employer brand and refine our inclusion strategies, ensuring we attract and retain diverse talent through data-driven and inclusive outreach.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I find the programme incredibly rewarding, primarily due to the significant variety offered by the rotational structure. Exploring different functions like Reward, Brand Marketing, and Talent has provided a holistic view of the business that keeps the work engaging. While the environment is very fast-pace, which can occasionally make balancing competing priorities and maintaining momentum a challenge, the level of support available is excellent. There is a strong culture of open communication, and I feel fully empowered to raise concerns or seek guidance whenever I need to navigate the workload.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
The programme has significantly broadened my technical and professional toolkit through its rotational structure. I have developed strong data capabilities by analyzing learning metrics and project management skills through coordinating complex talent processes and inclusion strategies. My background in marketing has been further refined and applied to employer branding, while constant interaction with managers and leaders has greatly given me the confidence to communicate with senior stakeholders across the business.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
As the first cohort of apprentices, I’ve seen the programme’s structure really evolve; while we started by establishing the groundwork, there are now so many great tools in place to help apprentices and managers stay on track. What really makes it stand out for me is the consultative approach - having the freedom to choose my own qualification and drive my own progression is an opportunity you just don’t find elsewhere. The Emerging Talent team is also incredibly passionate about ensuring we thrive, and it’s their constant support that gives us the confidence to really own our roles and succeed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I have experienced varying levels of support across my different rotations, but my recent managers have been fantastic. They provide me with the autonomy to own my work while actively advocating for my professional development and growth. This has created a really supportive environment where I feel safe and empowered to raise any issues or concerns, knowing they’ll be heard and addressed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The support from my training provider has been a bit of a mixed bag. It started off strong at Henley, but in the second year, the direct academic guidance definitely decreased, and you really have to take ownership of your own success. Feedback can often be quite vague, which makes it difficult to find objective ways to improve, so you have to be very self-driven. While the quality of lecturers can vary depending on the module, the overall structure is amazing compared to other providers. My tutor has been the absolute standout, though; she is amazing, and the whole experience wouldn't be the same without her support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The CMDA has been invaluable because it provides a "big picture" view of how a business operates, allowing me to see how different functions translate and connect within my own organization. It has given me insights into the broader business landscape that others might not necessarily have. By providing me with the foundational knowledge in areas like project management, finance, and marketing, the qualification has made me feel much more well-rounded and confident in my daily role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are plenty of extra-curriculars to get stuck into, from our SCI (Social, Culture, and Inclusion) committee and various ERGs to the three days of paid volunteering leave we get each year. I’m really active in these, and they’re great for building a broader network. However, I do think we need more dedicated networking for emerging talent specifically; since we’re spread across different departments, our cohort doesn't see each other often, which can make it hard to form relationships with people your own age.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Samsung Electronics to a friend?
Yes
Why?
As a top 5 global brand, it’s an incredible name to have on your CV and an opportunity you really shouldn’t pass up. The scale of the organization means you’re constantly exposed to industry-leading innovation and "big picture" business strategies. Being part of such a prestigious, fast-paced company is an amazing way to kickstart your career and build a solid professional foundation
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Samsung Electronics?
The best advice is to be unique and stay true to yourself rather than trying to fit a specific mold. Samsung values people who can push boundaries and think differently, so show them you have the drive to challenge the status quo.
