Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

The Winter Vacation Scheme at Ashurst was an excellent experience that gave me valuable insights into the legal world, as well as into how the firm operates. I enjoyed spending my days networking with trainees and more senior lawyers, learning from their experiences, and completing intellectually stimulating tasks.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

All the lawyers were friendly and approachable, which made it easy for me to learn how the firm operates and what it would be like to be a trainee. The team behind the organisation of the Vacation Scheme was excellent, providing us with an environment in which we could truly engage with the firm and gain a deeper understanding of what makes Ashurst unique in the industry.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Throughout the week, I completed various tasks that helped me develop skills such as legal research and attention to detail. Each task gave me a unique insight into the area of law and I am convinced that the skills learned will be valuable in becoming a good lawyer in the future,

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture and general atmosphere were what made the Vacation Scheme truly special. Everyone was incredibly approachable and friendly, which made it much easier to ask questions and gain insights. Ashurst is both inclusive and diverse, and this is evident from the moment you step into the office. From day one, everyone treats you with respect, and you immediately feel like part of the team.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

The overall experience was excellent. Working in the firm for a week was amazing and the after-work activities were very enjoyable as well. It was a good opportunity to network with others and get to know my future colleagues.
