Summer Intern Review

Valuations of property portfolios using Rightmove Plus, purpose-built comparable tool, indexing etc.
Sorting of client data into an Excell spreadsheet - using XLOOKUP and VLOOKUPs.
Deciding specific assumptions and inputting data onto a cashflow.

Moderate responsibility. The research samples completed by myself were used in the cashflow - but obviously, they were checked by my manager first.

Excell skills: more efficient navigation of the sheet, more confidence with formulas such as XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, MROUND.
Technology skills: use of JLLgpt (JLL's own GPT, similar to chatGPT).
Research skills: understanding comparative factors better, identifying a suitable set of comparable properties.
Soft skills: communication, networking, teamwork.

We have weekly training, which usually entails a mandatory hour long recording of a presentation discussing a range of topics. Topics covered include: optimising use of JLLgpt, presentation skills, business etiquette.
You are assigned a line manager who is your main contact throughout the internship. They are responsible for training you on the technical skills needed to complete your work, giving you day-to-day tasks, reviewing your work and providing feedback.
You are also assigned a buddy - who is usually a graduate in your team. This is a more relaxed contact that you can talk to and seek advice from.
There were 20 other interns in my cohort and 2 placement students. This has given a strong sense of support, from spending lunch together to helping each other out on projects.

JLL as a company has a very friendly, non-judgemental and welcoming culture. It feels like you can talk to anyone, no matter their position.

I thoroughly enjoyed my internship.
