Summer Vacation Scheme Participant Review

The vac scheme was excellent from start to finish.
One of its particular strengths was that, unlike some other law firms, it did not have any 'artificial' centralised tasks like presentations or simulations. Instead, we were all able to manage our own time in order to get involved in the real work in our teams and beyond. I felt like I truly contributed to the work and got to meet lots of people from across the firm.
My tasks included some substantial research tasks, taking notes during a meeting, helping out with due diligence, editing documents, and attending large client meetings, among other things.

Everything was very clear and everyone was very happy to talk about their role and their work. When being given tasks, those giving them to us did a fantastic job of explaining the full context of the task and why it was important.

New skills: taking meeting notes, doing desktop research, editing large documents, carrying out due diligence.
Existing skills: networking, communication, document formatting, information synthesis, commercial awareness.

Absolutely incredible.
Everyone of every level of seniority was so lovely and very willing to spend time talking to us, including dedicated talks from some of the most senior people at the firm, and it was clear people of all levels were genuinely friends with each other.
Sitting in on calls, I got to see how well people took care of each other and how everyone's time, energy, availability, and other commitments were respected when planning ahead for busy periods.

I loved it, 10/10. I knew I would, and even then it was better than I imagined it would be.
