Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Team are product owner for 20 different ancillaries overseeing reporting, finances and content. Some of my tasks included updating weekly reporting for trading and finance, briefing content changes for the site, regularly calls with internal and external stakeholders and raising invoices.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I was tasked with raising invoices independently and heading a relationship with one partner. I also presented frequently to SLT on decisions and analysis.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have learnt how to confidently use excel, adobe reporting and kofax (for raising invoices). I have had lots of opportunities to develop my presentation skills.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I was part of a placement co-hort and the learning and development team provided space to raise issues or queries. My team have been really supportive in both business skills and development skills and I was given a mentor towards the end of my placement.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

I enjoy going into the office and feel there is a good culture when we are all in person. The company tries to provide the same culture online through virtual social events but at times working remotely has been challenging.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I have had a great time on placement and have learnt such great transferable and development skills that I can take into any future career. I have enjoyed being a part of a large placement scheme as there has always been someone my age to talk to.

What advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland

Its an excited company in an everchanging industry (Travel) who value early career development and employee wellbeing. There are challenges around social events and working remotely vs in the office.
