Residential Valuations Intern Review

I was under the residential valuations team, working in the loan security team of affordable housing.
On a day-to-day basis I was responsible for sorting data using excel, drafting terms of engagement and conducting research as a basis for valuation.

The tasks I were given were entirely my own responsibility to complete well. I was not responsible for client communication at any point.

I have massively improved my ability to navigate and utilise excel. I have learnt how to use RightMove plus and how to analyse available comparables to make valuation judgements. I developed my communication skills through contact with local agents for more information.

I was the only intern assigned to my line manager meaning I always had a point of contact who was free to answer queries. The whole team were open to questions and were extremely supportive.

The general atmosphere is extremely friendly. Whilst each team is incredibly productive, there is a warm atmosphere where everyone gets along well. Interns are encouraged to go for coffee with people and ask lots of questions and company culture is supportive of this.
Company culture includes volunteering days, several sports teams and lots of social initiatives.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this internship. This internship is far less stressful than other internships I have been on due to the supportive environment. The interns are all social and get on very well, often meeting up on their lunch breaks. Graduates also make the internship enjoyable by making large efforts to include everyone.
