Building Surveying Summer Intern Review

I gained experience across core building surveying functions, including assisting with dilapidation surveys and report writing, attending pre-start and progress meetings with responsibility for drafting minutes, and supporting contract administration through preparation of tender reports, specifications, and schedules of works. I have contributed to reinstatement cost assessments, vendor surveys, and due diligence reporting, as well as planned preventative maintenance schedules. I've also provided support to project managers on live projects and been involved in stakeholder interactions.

I was given a lot of freedom and responsibility to carry out tasks, but they were obviously always monitored by a senior member of the company.

Report writing, undertaking dilapidation surveys, due diligence, contract administration, stakeholder communications. I have learnt how a building surveyor conducts themselves in a variety of different situations.

I have received support and guidance from everyone I have encountered as part of the company. Everyone really makes an effort to do this in order to get the most out of the internhip.

Specifically the Bristol office was great. Everyone is incredibly welcoming and friendly. I felt no judgement when coming in with limited knowledge and I was never made to feel silly for asking any questions. Because of this I have learnt so much.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my internship. I feel like it will really benefit my degree and has confirmed that this is the industry and career I would like to go down.
