Online merchandising Review

My role focused on the website merchandising. Day-to-day, I focused on supporting priorities from trading across our website, managing our deals of the week and maintaining the web merch. When we had promotions, I created all the merchandising and targeted activities to support the campaigns.

I was given a lot of responsibility as I was classed as the owner of the products that I worked as (with supervision from my manager). I was able to make decisions and suggestions for my products that I worked on, discussing with my manager before any changes.

My placement year hugely developed my skills. My communication, technical skills, MS office skills and my confidence improved the most. But I also gain stakeholder management skills and developed my problem solving and ability to work well under pressure.

A lot, I had calls with my manager weekly and lots of opportunities for support between catch ups. I met with my senior manager and the general manager throughout the year to share any concerns and discuss how I was getting on. I also had a buddy in my team and was very supported by everyone in the merchandising team daily. Outside my team I then had the placement leadership team who we met with monthly and a buddy and a mentor from across the business.

In my team especially everyone was incredibly kind and supportive. The stakeholders I did work with across the business were very approachable and the wider digital team I sat within were all very friendly. Overall, a really positive culture.

I really enjoyed my placement, it really helped me to grow as a person and I've gained so much more confidence that I couldn't have found anywhere else. I made friends with all the other placements which was also really lovely.
