Social Media and Marketing Placement (First Choice) Review

I was a part of the social media and marketing team for First Choice. I was responsible for the content calendar, posting, content creation, community engagement, brand partnership competitions, reporting for campaigns and BAU monthly. No day was the same - but their was consistency with processes I owned. The team worked closely and replied upon each other during busy periods so I would take on lots of adhoc tasks when I had capacity

Yes - I felt like a depended on member of my team. I had processes I owned from start beginning and had autonomy over decision making. My opinion was also considered in bigger marketing projects and decisions and I felt like a trusted member of the team.

Yes - I have developed lots of skills in this professional setting; communication, team-working, time management, prioritisation, problem solving, public speaking, negotiation
I have also learnt to use softwares such as emplifi, lexis nexis, capcut, tiktok, instagram, meta ads manager.

The support I got from my direct manager and working team was invaluable. They encouraged me to learn and take as many opportunities during my placement year and I learnt from all of them. My manager guided me through all the emotions of entering the working world both personal and professionally.

The TUI culture is made great by the people who work there - everyone I came across was friendly and welcoming. However, the company can feel quite cliquey in certain teams and areas (luckily not at all in my working team). The company isn't very sociable - not until my final month was it made compulsory for people to be in office just once a week. The placements had to work hard to organise our own socials as I don't think this is a priority for the company but valuable for younger employees. I think the company could do more internally in terms of diversity and reflect this more in their leadership roles. I would like to have learnt more about what the TUI Care Foundation do

I really enjoyed my placement due to the people in my team and the responsibilities I was given. I got some amazing opportunities and networked at lot internally and externally. I did think their would be more opportunities given to the placements as a cohort but this was made up for by the opportunities I was given individually.
