Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at CGI?
CGI is a great company to do a grad scheme at, they are very people focused and you can tailor your two years to what areas you would like to explore.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I'm not technically a Project Manager, I'm a Bid Manager. From the beginning of my role you get given responsibilities and treated like any other partner at CGI. This involved leading a bid team of up to 10 people (of various levels), presenting to senior leadership, dealing with clients and working on compiling the bid documents. This was a new area to me so I was encouraged to complete training and shadow other bid managers.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
You are instantly part of the bid team, with partners who have been bid managers for 10+ years, given the same responsibility and valued.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
The pay on the graduate scheme at CGI has set levels it can increase by, for example if you receive a promotion it will go up by X and this is the same for anyone on the grad scheme who goes up to the same level. This is nice to know what amount you will be getting and it is not dependent on your BU's budget. You also have an extra performance pay increase than those off the grad scheme. However, you don't receive a London waiting so despite living in London and paying the higher rent, you still receive the same pay as a grad in Manchester, Birmingham etc.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
The company encourage rotation so if you enjoy the role but may want to learn new skills/areas, you can move internally and this is supported. Therefore, it is good preparation for the future.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
As mentioned, you are actively encouraged to complete training and I have never had a request for training declined. Also, there are always opportunities to shadow other members of the team and gain a mentor from anywhere in the business.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
My Director and buddy have been amazing - always having time for any questions, regular catch ups, making sure to provide recognition.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
CGI are a great company to work for, especially work life balance. I have a meeting in my calendar over lunch (12-1) called love your lunch and this is to make sure that no one books any meetings in your lunch hour and you get the time.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
Everyone at CGI is really nice and welcoming, the values are really strong at CGI. Obviously it is dependent on your team and project, however I have no requirement to attend the office but still go in twice a week to see friends/the team.
How would you rate CGI initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
How would you rate CGI CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
You get 1 day a year to complete CSR activities and if you want to complete more, you can speak to your Director. We have a website which advertises CSR initiatives running and you can always create your own if there is a specific one you would like to do.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend CGI to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a great company to work for, especially on the graduate scheme, and a good starting point for your career.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
Yes during the assessment centre there was a lot mentioned about CGI (rotations, CSR etc) that is exactly the case and I was able to arrange a call with my buddy to explain more about the role specifically.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to CGI?
Make sure you always keep a copy of the job role, competencies, description etc because sometimes this is removed before the interview and it can be hard to prepare.
