Test Analyst Review

Daily team meeting, discussing what work has been done previous and what you will be working on that day, allows the rest of the team to understand progress. Depending on time of the year, dealing with support requests from the client, resolving and contacting them back. Updating and editing JIRA tickets, adding comments and working on subtasks related to my tasks.
Working with XRay writing test scenarios, test plans, test sets, and test executions related to relevant development change.

CGI has a Student Kickstart Initiative (SKI) project, this is when graduates and placement students from across the UK are teamed up together to work on our own project, aside from help from SKI leads and mentors, the team is expected to work on this project and progress throughout 9 months, and present to their leads and sponsors in person in the CGI London office. This provided me with a holistic understanding of running a project smoothly, and I believe this was the more responsibility I was given.

Before this placement, I had no experience with testing, this has allowed me to develop in this area, and understand the importance of testing. I have developed my development skills also, working on small front end changes has allowed me to gain a better understanding of HTML and typescript, which will be beneficial for my final year, as well as understanding how to work with GIT and the importance of that.
I have been able to develop my support skills, dealing with the client, understanding raised issues and working on diagnosing the problem to provide the correct solution.
My time at CGI has helped tremendously with my presentation skills, I have has many opportunities to present online as well as in person, which is a vital skill to have.

The support I have received has been very beneficial for my learning and development, when I am struggling I have a wide network I am able to reach out to for help. I have been assigned a team lead, which helps me with performance and project reviews, as well as my project leader who always provides help and advice when it is needed.
My director has provided great support to me throughout my time at CGI, guiding me no best practice within the company.

CGI culture as a whole is very welcoming and friendly, I found it very easy to reach out and connect with other members.
CGI provide different knowhow and wellness sessions online to help you stay connected with other members as well, I have found these very beneficial to learn more about the company as well as new topics I am interested in. As well as that, CGI has a Sports and Social Club (SSC) for each office, that organises events and socials.
Overall, I believe CGI has a great company attitude and culture to ensure everyone is welcome

I have enjoyed my placement year with CGI, having the opportunity to gain new skills, meet new people and expand my network. Gaining experience with working on a project with other graduates was a great chance to develop each of our team working skills, and doing a final presentation in person was great exposure that I know will greatly help me throughout the rest of my career.
