Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Analysis and presentation of quality data, managing excel user interfaces, purchasing department goods and raising purchase orders for third party company jobs, creating and updating health and safety risk assessments and work instructions
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given the opportunity to present to management, lead my own projects, take over roles in the department, work on improvement initiatives and work directly with external people and companies on my own

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Communication has improved through presentation of data to the team and management, coding and excel skills have been developed through management of our end of line interface, collaboration has also improved through long term projects working with different departments to achieve goals

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I had reviews with my manager every 3 months however this felt more like a progress catchup and goal setting from my manager for the next 3 months rather than a wellbeing checkup and a collaboration on my tasks for the future

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The team i worked in were generally under alot of pressure being a just in time plant so there were stressful times however the team had a great morale and sense of humour. Cross department relationships were very professional and there wasn’t much social interaction or a sense of collaboration, departments looked out for themselves and focused on what they wanted rather than what was best making it hostile at times.

I enjoyed the team i worked with and the projects i got to lead however the environment felt stressful, unrewarding and hostile at times

What advice would you give to others applying to Forvia
Its a challenging job. What you put in is what you get out and you’re likely to form close relationships with your team but unlikely to feel like part of something bigger due to the cross department relationships. It keeps you on your toes and is rewarding if you enjoy the problem solving under pressure and not knowing what work holds but lacks structure and standardisation or creativity of other jobs
